As I tweeted before, I’m in such a good mood today even the TD commercial made me chuckle. Yep, the one with the old men. Uh-huh. The very same marketing campaign that motivated me to send a drunken complaint email to TD saying that their commercials were the lowest common denominator, and even though I wasn’t a TD customer I certainly would NEVER even CONSIDER to be one because if those two surly old farts. I think I lost them at “I’m not even a TD customer”. Yes, I’m one of those people who send angry letters to companies. Someone’s gotta do it. It’s a great way to unleash some (always polite and non-life-threatening) rage, just make sure you anger is directed appropriately. I mean, don’t be hatin’ on Kelloggs just cuz your razor got rusty.

So yes, next time some positive change occurs within a company or product, you can thank me. So far no dice, I’ve written Jello-O about discontinuing Concord Grape (WTF?!), the Discovery Channel about their void-of-science content (I actually got a personalized response, with a hidden apology), and Bounty paper towels for using bleach, just to name a few. I remember when I wrote that email to the Discovery Channel I was so proud of myself, and told everyone about it, then two weeks later some psycho stormed the offices of Discovery and took people hostage. No one was killed but the actual psycho I believe, and it was just funny cuz a few people were like “OMG for a second I thought that was you!”. Good to know that my friends think I’m capable of storming a TV channel headquarters and start shooting people just because I disagree with the programming. Not unsettling AT ALL. I’m not THAT bad, at most I would come try and shake their vending machine or something.

ANYwho, I’m super motivated since I’m about to embark upon a new adventure, into the magical mystical world of freelance blogging. Don’t worry (cue crickets), I’ll still be Bar-B, if anything I’m committed to posting like 5 times a day now. What’s the treatment for such an overdose?? MORE BAR-B!! Except I’ll also be writing under various aliases, (aliasi? alias’?) including my real name. I really want to broaden my scope, and maybe make a few shekels on the side? So far I’ve been pretty much pro-bono (not the douchey U2 one), but Momma’s gotta start paying some bills! Not that I’m some sort of saint or anything, I love writing, and love the practice and feedback I get. I hope this doesn’t sound like I’m fishing for sales, *coughCLICKANDBUYcough*, like I’ve said before I DO work with affiliates but only promote stuff I believe in. Cue sappy music here. Where am I going with this?

I recently met a lovely girl, friend of a friend (now a friend! At least I hope so? haha) by happenstance, I was at my friend Mel’s place where she made me these killer shrimp tacos, we drank wine, and talked about life. Oh yeah, this all happened early afternoon by the way, again, feel free to judge. But hey, it’s summer! That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

Anywho, afterwards she was meeting some girlfriends for dinner, so I accompanied her to their respective houses. I was introduced to these two beautiful ladies, one of which runs a hand-made soap company, and we chatted a bit then went our separate ways. I had to go home and feed my man and cat.

I have a point, I swear.

Two days later, I run into the aforementioned Sexy Soapstress (Soapette? I don’t know) at the TEDx conference. Does this sound creepy? Giving a detailed account? I hope not, sorry Soapstress!
